Resizing your images BEFORE you upload them has MANY benefits:
1. Faster uploads and downloads - large files take longer to upload and longer for people on DIAL-UP to view your pics (which can affect sales!)
2. Conserves disk space and bandwidth - fit more pics in your account and get more image views out of smaller plans!
3. Prevents upload errors - image files on your camera are typically huge (500kb and higher) and can cause uploads to fail. Optimizing pics to under 150kb (50kb to 80kb is ideal) will prevent upload failures.
It's easy to resize pics on your computer before you upload them, and there are plenty of free programs to do it with! Here is just two examples you can grab right now:
